June 03, 2007:  Rocco has been adopted!!!

Yippee! It's a bit early, but Rocco found his short term foster while Dal Rescue goes on vacation and guess what? He was adopted by that family! Wanting to get a head start on any adjustment period for vacation time, the Nancy took Rocco home to meet her other pets and snoop around to see if he would like to stay while Dal Rescue goes away.  Nancy soon fell in love with Rocco and he is now living large with a couple other adopted Dals and having a blast playing with his new toys!

May 23, 2007: Rocco Update

You may remember me from my story in Puerto Rico.  Since I have landed in Miami with Dal Rescue, I've been treated like a prince.  That's 'cause Miss Pati says I really deserve it.  My name is Rocco and I am recovering from a real nasty wound around my neck.  It's a very bad past I'd like to forget.  There is so much abuse and torture going on where I came from, that I am so relieved to be in a safe and caring place.  I am so grateful for the rescue people in Puerto Rico who cared so much about me and flew me to safety.  They are my angels!

I am almost healed now and like wearing my new bandana.  I am very handsome, love to play and am already housetrained.  A lot of accomplishments from someone who came from such a bad place.  I love the food here and am starting to gain some weight.  I am searching for a loving  home where I will never be treated badly again.  I want love and want to give love!  I know what love is now and am starting to trust people again.  If you would like to meet me, please call Miss Pati.  I am also looking for a vacation spot to hang out in while my foster family goes away on a trip in a few weeks.  Gotta run now and eat my breakfast!  Love, Rocco.

May 05, 2007: Foster homes needed for Rocco, Summer, April, and Jillian from Puerto Rico!!!

The precious cargo.....3 Dal pups from Dead Dog Beach and Rocco..... ready to hitch a ride with Pati to Dal Rescue then to see the Doc.  Thanks to all our Puerto Rico rescue friends for their compassion and concern for our breed!  They are all truly making a difference in the lives of so many helpless animals.  We applaud you!!!!

Of the Dals taken from PR, we have placed into great families, Lolita (rescued a couple years ago) and Alana.  Calypso and Dante still need our help and should be arriving in Florida soon.  If anyone is interested in any of these wonderful Dals, please call us at 305 940-3320 or email us at admin@dalmatianrescue.com   They are all waiting for loving, forever homes.

Pati, you are truly awesome.  I just can't believe you are so willing to take the barrage of Dals we've had lately. Until Alana, I'd only seen one other Dal there. I really can't thank you enough, and I know it's a financial burden on you, as it is on us. I post the link to your site whenever I mention you so hopefully people will make some donations. www.manosporpatas.org

Let me know how Rocco and the little dinks are doing.  My heart is just so heavy for Rocco.  He's a dog that truly deserves a Taj Mahal for a home.

Another very disturbing story from Puerto Rico. This poor boy needs help urgently!!!

Although I've been in rescue for over 15 years and have seen just about everything imaginable, the photographs of this pitiful Dal mix in Puerto Rico are very disturbing and difficult to look at. While it is not our intent to create shock value, we are urged to show the reality the animals face daily in this particular area of Puerto Rico.

Some kind folks have taken in this boy, sort of patched him up for now, but cannot afford vet expenses. We would like to help raise money for the urgent care this boy needs and help him recover enough to be transported to rescue.

It seems we have formed an alliance with our rescue friends in PR who so desperately try to save as many lives as possible. Without the resources and means, they try to get the specific breeds to their particular rescue shelters and most often require lots of help.

Dalmatian Rescue's budget is depleted, and we are always running on empty. We cannot find enough funds in our budget to assist this boy and get him here to Florida. With your help financially and the hope of a loving foster/forever home, we can spare yet another life.

Please contact me as soon as possible if you might be in a position to help who we have now named "Rocco". He is counting on us and time is certainly of essence due to the extent of his wounds and the certainty of the onset of infection.

Hoping for help with "Rocco",

Pati
