Alana at her new forever home!!! Hi Pati, Just wanted to update you on Alana and I. She traveled very well with us back to Deltona, FL. I had a blanket that I acquired just for her, which she really loves laying on. I bought another toy for her, but she still loves her duck best. She is so sweet and wonderful!,and she seems very happy, too. We watch TV together, and I put her blanket on my bed, and she sleeps next to me. Wanted to send you a couple of pictures taken last weekend in my front yard. They were taken by my brother-in-law of my sister, Alana, myself. Alana is so warm and loving. She likes to grab an article of clothing while I'm doing laundry and run off with it. We play tag running through the house. Each evening when I get home from work, we go for a walk around the block, and she is making friends with some of the neighbors (especially the kids). Thank you so much for everything you have done, Bob and Alana...... the world's best Dalmatian

April 3, 2007 Pati, thank you so much for coming into Alana's life and giving her a new start. I'm sure you've already seen the sweet girl that she is, and she got the true short end of the stick being thrown away like garbage at that beach. We may never know what those scars are from, only Alana and her abuser know. The scars are healed but will always be there to remind us of why we work so hard for the ones who can't work for themselves. Please keep me posted on her progress. Ginny |

Alana arrived safely early in
the morning April 3rd after a late night flight from Puerto Rico to
Miami. Alana has finally set her paws on Florida soil and is safe free
at last! Thanks so much Ginny for caring about this little girl and
making sure she got to us safely. Thanks a million, you'll be hearing
from us soon! Pati This adorable, grateful sweetheart still needs a loving foster home or forever home. Alana is a gentle, precious gal who deserves the best. If you can offer that to her, please call us at Dal Rescue (305) 940-3320. Thanks, Pati. |

March 19th.........Hello Pati. I have a nonprofit animal rescue
organization functioning in Puerto Rico. Just yesterday, a female
Dalmatian was abandoned at the beach area where we work. The
rescuer at the beach mentioned that she had some scars on her - I've
asked for a better accounting of what types of scars. This is an
area where animals are regularly murdered - poisoned, beaten or
kicked to death, shot, cut up and thrown away in bags,... When we
get a dog that appears to be a purebred, we first contact breed
rescue groups to see if they can assist in any way. Are you able to
help?
March 19th.........Pati, thanks so much for your quick response. I
don't know much about this Dal at all but in the photo she does look
like she's had pups before. Can't know all of this for sure until
we get her to a vet.
I appreciate anything you can do for her. There are horrible, almost unspeakable things, that happen to those innocent angels at that beach.
Same day from a fellow rescuer........
No, she doesn't look pregnant. But she has some scars on her
back and have the mark of a collar that was too dirty and was
causing her a rash (I took out the collar), although the coat in
general looks fine. The problem with pure breed dogs is that
their condition worsens over time after been dumped at the
beach--contrary to mixed breed dogs. She's very sweet and
definitively not food aggressive.
March 26th........Pati, unfortunately she is missing now - the
rescuers there haven't seen her today. I hope she's okay but
there's so much carnage that goes on there, I never have good
feelings about these things.
In the hopes that we do find her, yes, let's get her to Florida! That would be fantastic. We can get her on Amerijet into Miami for $85. She would have to be at a vet for a few days to get checked out for a health certificate to fly, first. I'll let you know if she returns - and if she does, she'll be taken straight to the vet! Thanks!
Thanks for your prayers. I certainly hope we get good news soon
March 28th........good news is that she showed back up yesterday
but I'm now having a hard time finding someone to get her to the
vet. Hopefully she'll get in today and I'll let you know.
Same day.....
Great news! Steve and Sandra at the beach were able to get her
to the vet today so she's safe!!! It took a while to get her
from where they found her to the car but though she was
obviously scared and unsure of what was happening, she was still
sweet and even wagged her tail when they stopped to praise her
along the way. So, she's at a vet nearby and I've asked him to
give her a thorough once-over to look for anything that needs to
be treated, especially heartworm and ehrlichia, treat her for
internal and external parasites and get her vaccinations
started. I'll talk to him tomorrow about the results. Also,
she has a couple of long-healed scars that appear to be from
direct abuse/assault (Steve says like a machete blow). The poor
girl has been through an awful lot. So once I hear from the
vet, I'll call you with the information. If she's healthy, I'd
really like to get her to you.
March 29th.......Hi Pati. Well, Miss "Alana" is safe and sound
and at the vet! She's in great condition, heartworm negative,
and the Dr. says she can fly at anytime. I have 4 other dogs I
need to get there for shelters so I can put her on the flight
with them. Are you available to take her in?
